General Submission Guidelines
"Emerald Tales"
Short stories accepted for publication will be paid a flat rate of $40 per story or installment for a serial for both the electronic and print rights.
Poetry accepted for publication will be paid a flat rate of $20 per poem for both the electronic and print rights.
Submissions can be either emailed or sent through the postal service.
- short story of 4,000 words or less on the theme for that issue.
OR A serial short story of 24,000 words or less which can be broken up into six equal parts.
OR A poem of less than 50 lines on the theme.
- black type on white background. NO colors.
- 12 pt. standard readable font such as Times New Roman, Courier, Arial, or similar
- Contact information: Legal name, Pen name, mailing address, email address
- Mailed submissions:
On the cover sheet, indicate the theme and the story's genre.

Volume Two, Number Two: "It was a bright and sunny day."
submission deadline: March 1, 2010
(Editor's note: The first line of your story should be: "It was a bright and sunny day.")
Volume Two, Number Three: "Midsummer's Eve"
submission deadline: April 15, 2010
(Editor's note: The submission deadlines have been changed to six weeks before publication of the issue.)

A note on emailed submission responses: If you don't receive an email reply within five days of sending your submission stating that it was received, please resubmit it. No decision regarding acceptance is made until after the deadline has passed and all submissions have been reviewed. Notification of acceptance will be made seven to ten days after the deadline.
I respond to all my emails. If you don't get a response, either I didn't receive your email, or my response didn't get to you. Please enquire.

Crystal Codices
Submissions of novellas and longer short stories from 5,000 to 25,000-plus words in length are accepted for any genre and theme. Submissions can be either emailed or sent through the postal service, following the same guidelines as stated above. Except:
- On the subject line of e-mailed submissions, put "Novella" or "Crystal Codices", the title of the story, and the story's genre of fiction.
- On the cover sheet of mailed submissions, put "Novella" or "Crystal Codices", the title of the story, and the story's genre of fiction.
Payment for Crystal Codices is 20% royalties on the retail price.
